$3trn Founder Bet
Today the X rumour mill is reporting that Elon Musk is considering combining xAI, Tesla and SpaceX into a single business.
From afar, the business logic seems strained. Maybe something around shared technology capabilities… data, AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing? Not sure I buy it, tbh.
Peel back the onion and what it’s really about is a $3trn+ founder bet on the most unique entrepreneur of the last 100 years, and perhaps ever. Like him or hate him, Elon is a walking epitome of the iconoclastic maverick entrepreneur.
Bringing his companies together might seem crazy to many. Isn’t there such a thing as the conglomerate discount anymore? Apparently not. In fact, quite the opposite when you have that guy at the helm of the group.
I don’t reckon it’ll happen: too much complexity and noise ahead of SpaceX’s IPO. But if it does, it’ll be a hell of a stock to watch. What could possibly go wrong?
