Batching

Finding the time to write something every day is proving extremely difficult.

Instead, I'm taking the approach of batching: storing up ideas as unpublished drafts and then blasting through the actual writing of them in a batch when I get the chance.

I find it much easier to have an idea each day than I do to actually write something each day. On one hand, I struggle to find the 10-15 minutes with a laptop that it takes to write a full post every day. At the same time, it's hard - if not impossible - to sit down at the weekend and come up with 7 unique ideas of what to write about without a shortlist of snippets to work from.

There's probably a broader framework to derive from the way this has evolved.

Put simply: it seems to work well to separate the ideation work (for which it's important to capture it "in the moment", i.e. through an unpublished draft title) and the production work (for which I can sit down and crunch through when I get a chance to focus). Ideas are fleeting and fragile - better to capture them at least in fragments than lose them forever.
