Different Folks
My childhood best mate turned 35 today. (I’m writing this on the way back home from his party.)
We’ve gone down very different paths: he’s an artist, I’m an investor. Those two worlds rarely intersect. If I had to guess, he probably sees the investing and/or finance world as pretty grubby and soulless. And I know plenty of people in my world that would look down on the artist’s lifestyle and values.
I’m proud to be a sort of bridge across the two. I love speaking with his partner and friends from the art world. The depth of thought they put into things. The craft. The orthogonal perspectives. It changes the way I think, and I love that.
I don’t think the two worlds come together enough. We should find a way for more intersections to occur: different folks, different strokes - but at reduced distance.
