Taxing Tax
I was doing some calculations this weekend on all the different permutations of my next living scenario.
We’ve analysed buying a new house, keeping our current flat and buying a second (much cheaper) house, selling our flat and renting, and keeping our flat and renting a different one.
Throughout all the Google Sheets, one thing is clear: our tax system is ridiculously complicated. ChatGPT helps, but I’m left wondering how on earth the average person manages. I’m a professional investor, am reasonably numerate, and a dab hand with AI assistants - and even I don’t know WTF is going on.
Paying a tax accountant £1,000/year is a joke. There must be a better way, either at the systemic level or the software level?
